The Caretakers of Thelema are pleased to offer these rare limited edition works. Students of Thelema treasure Marcelo Motta’s editions for his profound and inspired commentaries upon the writings of Aleister Crowley. Despite their tremendous popularity, these books have been extremely difficult to obtain for several decades. This is due to the attempts of various individuals and organizations to suppress these important works. Now, the The Caretakers of Thelema make these editions available to serious researchers, Thelemic scholars, academic institutions and the general reading public.
In the tradition of our Founders, the Caretakers of Thelema continue to apply the methodology of scientific inquiry toward the publication and analysis of the vast body of written material produced by Aleister Crowley. It is our belief that scholars everywhere should have access to ALL of A.C.’s published and unpublished works. This simple preliminary collation of available documents and texts is the necessary precursor to a proper scientific evaluation of his life and work. Interested readers will then have the liberty of exploring the incredible wealth of material generated by history’s greatest pioneer of human potential.
Accordingly, we offer these works, as they were carefully published, annotated and commented upon by Marcelo Ramos Motta. Mr. Motta was the disciple and heir of Karl Johannes Germer, Crowley’s legitimate spiritual Successor. Through his words, we hear the voice of one who continued the work of publishing the quintessential masterpieces of Scientific Illuminism. Marcelo Motta’s comments provide a modern and engaging perspective upon the Great Work. His elaborations upon the works of Aleister Crowley are startling in their clarity and piercing in their illumination of the more obscure elements of A.C.’s thought.

The ORIFLAMME – VOLUME VI
The ORIFLAMME is the Official Organ of the O.T.O., the secret Order to which Aleister Crowley bequeathed all his writings. The ‘Oriflamme’ was traditionally the flag of “St. Dionysus”, in reality the Magus DIONYSUS, from whom the Roman-Alexandrians fabricated their “Jesus Christ”. The flag was called Oriflamme because its colours were the red of blood and the gold of sunlight combined in shot silk. This flag represents the Heraldic Colours of THELEMA, the colours of true Christianity. The ORIFLAMME is published regularly during the Periods of Silence of the A∴A∴.
Number One: YOGA and MAGICK. This is the simplest and least pretentious account of the discipline of Yoga ever published anywhere. Crowley studied Yoga in the East, with true masters; and he managed to transmit it in language intelligible to Western minds. The approach is rigorously skeptical and scientific: no claims are made or allowed that cannot be verified by experiment. Mr. Motta’s notes aim chiefly at explaining how the peculiar psychological states produced by the practice of Mysticism may lead the mystic of whatever sect either to great wisdom, personal fulfillment and social usefulness or to spiritual insanity and religious persecution of people of other faiths.
Number Two: MAGICK and MYSTICISM. This is the simplest, frankest account of the spiritual meaning of the magickal instruments and weapons ever written. The point of view is rigorously scientific; yet, the end result is full of lyrical beauty, a perfect example of Crowley’s genius. This new edition of Book Four Part II Commented is annotated by Marcelo Motta. The illustrated text includes book reviews, news of the legitimate O.T.O. movement and its imitators, and humor.
Numbers Three & Four: MAGICK WITHOUT TEARS (Parts I and II ) was conceived by Aleister Crowley as a series of letters answering questions from beginners on Magick, mysticism, the work of occult orders, the techniques of the Masters, and the philosophy of Thelema. In 1947 e.v., Crowley died in poverty and opprobrium, without seeing this, as many others of his works, reach the public.
In 1954 e.v., Magick Without Tears was published by Mr. Karl Johannes Germer, Crowley’s successor as Outer Head of the O.T.O. It was published under conditions of great hardship. Only one hundred and fifty copies were printed. The book quickly became a bibliophile rarity. In 1962 e.v., Mr. Germer died under suspicious circumstances, naming a Brasilian Citizen, Marcelo Motta, his follower as Outer Head. Because of the interference of certain intelligence services, Mr. Motta did not learn of his heirship for eleven years. Meanwhile, disparate claims of O.T.O. authority were made by totally unworthy persons, and many Crowley books (the copyrights of which he left to the O.T.O.) were shamelessly pirated by a certain Francis Regardie. Fifteen thousand words of the original text of Magick Without Tears were excised, totally castrating the author’s thought and intention. This present, legitimate edition of Magick Without Tears restores the authentic Crowley text. Notes by Marcelo Motta not only clarify the meaning but indicate where, and why, Francis Regardie cut the original. As an invaluable addition, Mr. Motta has provided an essay, aptly titled Intelligence Services are Not Intelligent, which details the history of the O.T.O. since Crowley’s death, and explains how and why such organizations as the C.I.A. under Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon, the Brasilian Junta of Cardinals and Generals, the Vatican and even the Israeli Secret Service have surreptitiously tried to destroy the Order.
Numbers Five & Six: THELEMIC MAGICK (Parts I and II) contains the original text of Magick in Theory and Practice (Book Four Part III) . Mr. Motta died in mysterious circumstances before publishing his annotations to Part II, which have been recovered by the O.T.O. Part I includes the first Thirteen Chapters of Magick in Theory and Practice, commented by Mr. Motta, a third installment of “The History of the O.T.O. Since Crowley’s Death”, O.T.O. News and Reviews. Part II includes the remaining Chapters of Magick In Theory and Practice, the Appendices, and other items of interest to readers.
